The Canon APPA is one of the most important events on the AIPP calendar and as a result the Canon APPA Committee is one of the most important committees within the AIPP management structure.

Professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand compete for a number of industry awards by submitting four images, which are judged by a panel of their peers. The Canon APPA attracts over 3500 entries and, apart from the premier award of “The Canon Australian Professional Photographer of the Year”, there are a range of special categories that include Advertising; Commercial; Illustrative; Landscape; Science, Environment & Nature, Documentary, Press; and Wedding. Each year selected winning images are published in an Awards Book, which is sent to most AIPP members free of charge.

AIPP Full Members and emerging members who participate in the Canon APPA are able to accrue “award points” which count towards the achievement of Associate and Master status within AIPP.
